What Vivaldi Does on Its Own
- Saved sessions: save open tabs as a named session from the File menu, Quick Commands or the Sessions panel, and choose whether to include all windows and workspaces.
- The Sessions panel lists saved sessions so you can open, rename and edit them.
- Tab stacks group tabs together, and workspaces keep separate sets of tabs.
- The Closed Tabs button at the end of the tab bar lists recently closed tabs; Ctrl+Shift+T reopens the last one.
Where Vivaldi’s Tools Fall Short
Vivaldi saves a session when you ask it to. It doesn’t snapshot your windows on a timer or keep earlier versions of a saved session.
Saved sessions have had rough edges: after Vivaldi 8.0, users reported saved sessions opening with tab stacks unstacked, which was later fixed.
How BelayTab Fits Into Vivaldi
Vivaldi runs Chrome Web Store extensions, so BelayTab installs from there. It snapshots every window every 5 minutes and on close, keeps the last 20 versions of each session, and exports to JSON, CSV, URL lists or HTML bookmarks.
Keep using Vivaldi’s sessions if they suit you; BelayTab is the backup behind them.
