Import From Another Tab Manager
Each imported group or session becomes a BelayTab session you can rename, merge or restore. Your original tool is left untouched, so you can try BelayTab without giving anything up.
Want to look at a OneTab export before importing it? The free OneTab converter at /tools/onetab-converter/ turns it into JSON, CSV or HTML bookmarks in your browser, with nothing uploaded.
| Source | What to import |
|---|---|
| OneTab | The text from OneTab’s “Export URLs” page, pasted in |
| Session Buddy | A Session Buddy export file |
| Tab Session Manager | A Tab Session Manager export file |
| Tablerone | A Tablerone export file |
| Plain URL list | One URL per line, pasted or loaded from a text file |
How Duplicate Detection Works on Import
When you import, BelayTab checks the file against what you already have. Importing the same export twice doesn’t give you two copies of every session. Duplicate URLs across different sessions are allowed, because the same page can belong in two places, and they’re flagged in the clean-up view rather than merged without asking.
Export Formats
You can export one session or your whole library. To browse an HTML bookmarks file without importing it anywhere, open it in the bookmarks viewer at /tools/bookmarks-viewer/.
| Format | Good for |
|---|---|
| JSON | A complete copy: sessions, tabs, groups, pins and history details. The format BelayTab imports back |
| CSV | Opening in a spreadsheet, sorting or sharing a list |
| Plain URL list | Pasting into another tool, a note or an email |
| HTML bookmarks | Importing into any browser’s bookmarks, or reading as a web page |
Automatic Export: a Copy Outside the Browser
Snapshots and version history live inside your browser. The rolling export lives outside it. Turn it on and BelayTab writes a full JSON copy of every session to your Downloads folder on a schedule you set, daily by default.
The file is readable without BelayTab, so if the browser profile is wiped or the laptop dies, the file on your disk or in your own backup still has your tabs. Your storage health readout shows when the last export ran.
The export file is only as safe as the disk it’s on. If your Downloads folder isn’t backed up, copy the file somewhere that is, or use Sync for a copy on our servers.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I move my tabs from OneTab to BelayTab?
In OneTab, open “Export URLs” and copy the text. In BelayTab, open Import, choose OneTab and paste. Each OneTab group becomes a BelayTab session, and OneTab itself is left unchanged.
Can I import from Session Buddy?
Yes. Export your sessions from Session Buddy, then choose Session Buddy on BelayTab’s Import screen and load the file.
What happens if I import the same file twice?
BelayTab detects it and doesn’t duplicate your sessions. Duplicate URLs across different sessions are kept and flagged for clean-up, never merged silently.
Can I export my tabs as bookmarks?
Yes. Export to HTML bookmarks and import that file into Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari as a bookmarks folder.
Where does the automatic export go?
To your Downloads folder, as a JSON file, on the schedule you choose in Settings. The file can be read without BelayTab and imported back at any time.
Is import and export free?
Yes. Every importer, every export format and the automatic export are part of the free plan.
