Yes. Saving, restoring, automatic snapshots, version history, import and export are free, with no limit on sessions or tabs. Only Sync is paid: $4 a month or $36 a year.

No. Everything except Sync works without an account, and there is no sign-up prompt when you install. You only create an account if you choose to turn on Sync.

A session is a saved, named list of tabs, usually one window’s worth. It keeps each tab’s title and URL, the tab order, pinned tabs and tab groups, so you can reopen the whole set later.

Bookmarks save single pages you mean to keep; BelayTab saves whole windows you mean to come back to. A session restores every tab in one click with its groups and pins, and it keeps version history, which bookmark folders don’t.

No. It runs no scripts on the pages you visit. Its work happens in the background on a timer, and long lists are virtualised so large libraries stay fast.

Click the BelayTab icon and press Save, or press Ctrl+Shift+S (Cmd+Shift+S on Mac). Every tab in the window is saved as one named session, and the tabs close unless you’ve set them to stay open.

Open the sessions page, find the session and choose Restore. It opens in a new window, or in the current one if you prefer, and the session stays saved unless you’ve chosen “restore and remove” in Settings.

Open BelayTab’s Recovery screen and restore the latest snapshot. Snapshots of every open window are taken every 5 minutes and whenever a window closes, so the newest one is never more than a few minutes old.

Press Ctrl+Shift+T (Cmd+Shift+T on Mac) straight away to reopen it. If that doesn’t bring it back, open the Recovery screen: BelayTab took a snapshot of the window as it closed.

Yes, for 30 days. Use Undo on the notification right after deleting, or restore the session from trash on the Recovery screen.

BelayTab keeps the last 20 versions of each saved session. If a merge, edit or restore goes wrong, you can go back to an earlier version, and restoring one adds a new version rather than overwriting anything.

Yes. Click any tab in a saved session to open it on its own. The rest of the session stays as it is.

No. BelayTab backs up its own database before every update, so an update can’t wipe your sessions.

None, unless you turn on Sync. Your sessions stay in your browser on your computer. BelayTab has no host permissions, runs no code on the pages you visit, and sends no analytics about URLs. With Sync on, tab titles and URLs are stored on our servers only to sync them; they are never sold or used for advertising.

In your browser’s storage on your computer. With Sync on, a copy is also kept on our servers, encrypted at rest. If you turn on automatic export, a JSON copy is written to your Downloads folder too.

Delete sessions in the extension, or uninstall it to remove local data. If you have a Sync account, deleting the account removes your data from our servers within 30 days. Export first if you want to keep a copy.

Sync is $4 a month or $36 a year. It includes cross-device sync, 90 days of cloud version history, web access at app.belaytab.com, cloud backup, unlimited devices and priority support.

They stay on your computer, readable and exportable. Nothing is ever locked. Your cloud copy is kept for 90 days after the subscription ends, then deleted.

Yes. BelayTab saves locally and sends changes when you’re back online. If it can’t reach our servers to confirm your subscription, Sync keeps working for 14 days before it pauses, and your local sessions keep working regardless.

Yes, with Sync. Sign in at app.belaytab.com from any browser, including a phone, to read your sessions and open their tabs.

Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi, Arc, Firefox, and Safari on Mac. Tab groups are saved and restored in Chromium browsers and recent Firefox; Safari doesn’t let extensions read tab groups, so the Safari version saves the tabs without their groups.

Yes, in Firefox 139 or later, which lets extensions read and create tab groups. In earlier versions the tabs are saved without their groups.

No, BelayTab is a desktop browser extension. With Sync you can read your sessions and open their tabs on a phone at app.belaytab.com.

Yes. BelayTab imports exports from OneTab, Session Buddy, Tab Session Manager and Tablerone, and plain lists of URLs. Duplicate imports are detected, not multiplied.

Yes. Export to JSON from BelayTab in one browser and import the file into BelayTab in the other, or turn on Sync and sign in on both. You can also export HTML bookmarks, which any browser can import.

Yes, uninstalling removes the extension’s local storage, so export your sessions first. A JSON export can be imported back after you reinstall, and with Sync your sessions are also kept on our servers.
